The history of Kota Doria sarees dates back to the mid-17th century when Maharaj Kishore Singh of Kota brought weavers from Mysore, Karnataka, to the region. These weavers were skilled in a unique weaving technique that produced a fine, lightweight cotton fabric with a distinctive square-check pattern known as “khat”.
